New Businesses Planned for County Road 544 in Haines City

A proposed commercial development could bring a Shell gas station, Pizza Hut, Brightway Market, Krispy Krunchy Chicken, and a liquor store to one of Haines City's fastest-growing corridors.

If you've driven along County Road 544 near Depot Way recently, you may have noticed activity at a vacant parcel just south of the Highland Meadows community. While construction has not yet begun in earnest, plans for the site have generated plenty of local interest.

According to signage previously displayed at the property and announcements from Brightway Market, the proposed development is expected to include:

  • Shell Gas Station
  • Brightway Market
  • Brightway Liquor
  • Krispy Krunchy Chicken
  • Pizza Hut

The site is located at approximately 1140–1198 County Road 544 in Haines City, directly across from the McLane distribution facility. As residential growth continues throughout this part of Polk County, additional retail and dining options have been a common request from nearby residents.

At this time, no official opening date has been announced, and construction timelines can change. As work progresses, we'll continue to provide updates on the development.

A proposed data center in Haines City is drawing attention after city officials said they do not currently have the water capacity to support the project. The proposed facility would be built near State Road 544 and Marion Road. According to city officials, the project could require approximately 150,000 gallons of water per day. Before the project could move forward, the city would need additional approvals related to its water supply. As of today, the project has not been approved. While this proposal is specific to Haines City, it reflects a much larger conversation taking place across Polk County.
