Lavender ’n Lace in Lake Alfred: A Unique Polk County Lunch Spot

Lavender ’n Lace in Lake Alfred is one of those places that feels completely different from the moment you arrive. Tucked away along North Lake Shore Way, the restaurant sits inside a charming historic property surrounded by gardens, giving it a much more relaxed and distinctive atmosphere than a typical lunch spot.

The family-owned tearoom has been part of Lake Alfred since 1989, and that history is a big part of what makes it interesting. The property itself has a lot of character, both inside and out, and the dining rooms are filled with teapots, china, artwork, and decorative pieces that make every room feel a little different.

We stopped in for lunch and started with the tea special of the day, Orange Grove Vanilla. It was a nice way to begin the meal and fit the setting perfectly.

For lunch, we tried a few different dishes, including the Curry Chicken served over seasoned basmati rice and the Crunchy Chicken, a baked chicken-and-rice casserole topped with cheese and crushed potato chips. The menu has a mix of comforting lunch dishes, soups, sandwiches, salads, and desserts, so there is quite a bit to choose from depending on what you are in the mood for.

One of the best parts of visiting Lavender ’n Lace is that the experience does not end when the meal is over. The property is surrounded by gardens that are worth taking a few minutes to walk through, and there is also a small shop on site with gifts and other items to browse.

That combination is really what makes this place stand out. You are not just stopping somewhere for lunch. Between the historic setting, gardens, tea, food, and shop, it feels more like a small local destination.
